March 2nd:
Jamie Cullum: The Pursuit
To call Jamie Cullum a jazz pianist barely scratches the surface. Call him a crossover and you still aren’t getting the full idea. One of the most unique musicians around..now you’re talking. The Pursuit is Jame’s first solo album in four years and early reviews say it was well worth the wait. This could easily be Jamie’s greatest album to date and one that can’t be missed.

Rogue Wave: Permalight
Rogue Wave, an indie rock band, used to be known for their pop songs with psychedelic stylings and the slightest emo tinge. Permalight is not that same album. The band has called the album “fun” and gone in a rock and more techno feel. Regardless, Rogue Wave always succeeds in their musical ventures and does excellent work in writing songs that give political commentary.

March 9th:
Frightened Rabbit: The Winter of Mixed Drinks
It’s not easy to describe the Scottish band that is “Frightened Rabbit”. But I like to toss in a band once in a while that no one has ever heard of just to shake things up. This is that band. Check them out and decide for yourself.

Emily Osment: Title TBA
At the moment its still unsure if Emily’s debut album will actually release in March but that seems to be the best bet. It’s the original plan at least. For now, check out her first track (and a great one) “All the Way Up”.
March 16th:
Dropkick Murphys: Live on Landsdowne
I don’t normally include live albums in the Hear That column because its usually no new music and rarely do we get the sort of bonus features worth our time. But I feel Dropkick Murphy’s live album is worth it and more. The Boston/Irish punk band took most of their fans favorite songs and played them during the St Patrick’s Day shows in Boston last year, recording as the concert went on. I’ve had the opportunity to see DKM live myself and they add so much to a live show. A live album from DKM is nearly as good as a brand new album.

March 23rd:
Justin Bieber: My World 2.0
Justin is the boy wonder who is storming the world of bubblegum pop. Its no longer a JoBro domination! (Sorry, did I sound too excited?) Anyway, the first half of Justin’s album released in November and went platinum within two months. This part 2 releases in March and we can expect the same sales and crazy tween reactions. If you like pop music, give it a listen and if nothing else, respect the kid for playing multiple instruments and writing his own songs.

She & Him: Volume Two
It seems to be the month of second edition albums, either that or titles are just too difficult to come up with. For those who like a softer, indie-rock sound, “She & Him” (yes, Zooey Deschanel’s band) is a great choice.

March 30th:
Gretchen Wilson: I Got Your Country Right Here
It’s a slow month for country artists, I suppose Lady Antebellum needs 2 whole months to dominate the charts, but Gretchen releases her latest studio album at the end of the month. Its her first album with her own record label, Redneck Records. If the first single “Work Hard, Play Harder” is any indication this will be a great album.
