The Band Perry
The Band Perry is made up of three siblings, Kimberly, Reid, and Neil. The three grew up in Mobile, Alabama. They played shows wherever they were able. At age fifteen, Kimberly was in her first band with her two brothers acting as roadies. At age ten and eight, Reid and Neil got bored of working for their sister, and quickly started their own band.
Although they were in separate bands, the brothers and sister would play together at night. In July of 2005, they formed their own band; The Band Perry. They were invited to open all of the tour dates on the Coca-Cola Bottling Company’s New Faces of Country tour.
The summer of 2008, Kimberly, Reid and Neil met Bob Doyle, the manager of Garth Brooks. The Band Perry spent the rest of 2008 writing in Nashville with Bob Doyle and Josh Pegram. They were getting ready for their first recording session.
The band was discovered by Scott Borchetta and Jimmy Harnen while they were working on music. They signed to Republic Nashville in the summer of 2009.
They released their first single, “Hip to My Heart,” in 2009. Their song debuted at number fifty-two on the Billboard Hot Country Songs in November of 2009. The song has since reached number thirty in the United States. The video of the single was directed by Trey Fanjoy, who has directed many videos, including Taylor Swift, Keith Urban and many other country artists.
Listen for Kimberly, who leads on vocals, plays piano, and the guitar. Her voice has been compared to the likes of Jennifer Nettles. Reid plays the bass guitar, and sings background vocals. And Neil plays the mandolin, the drums, the accordion, and sings background vocals, as well. Their debut album is currently being worked on.
